When you think of Argentinean wine, it’s probably a juicy, red malbec that first comes to mind. Those setting off to discover Argentina’s best-known varietal will likely have Mendoza pegged as their top destination, but there are plenty of places in Buenos Aires to try malbec. Torrontes is a unusual, crisp, floral white grape that grows best in the high mountainous regions around Salta. And although merlotis generally blended with malbec to produce a smooth table wine, some producers make a 100-percent varietal that can rival a French wine.
